Why this matters to us

The United Nations calls climate change the defining issue of our time. We recognize the impacts that a changing climate can have on people and communities, as well as our mining operations, such as increased costs resulting from more frequent and intense weather events (e.g., flooding, extreme heat). We also know there are growing expectations among governments, investors and community members for mining companies to accelerate emissions-reduction efforts and publicly report on their progress.
